Hello

I moved to a new house in Toronto/Canada.
I have LRG3095 - Broiler not starting a fire - While baking is working fine.
the screen is not showing any error, when I chose broil, I can switch between Ho/Lo, but there is no actual fire.

probably this is an igniter problem

I checked the OEM price is like $230 CAD, while the after-market on Amazon is like $60 CAD.
from your experience, does it make a big difference between OEM & Aftermarket for this part?
I found many videos to replace the LG baking igniter but didn't find one for Broiler, anyone can share a video?

Hi,

Missing several digits.

from your experience, does it make a big difference between OEM & Aftermarket for this part?

Many oem igniters we get 5+ years life expectancy.
Many no-name parts we get 6-12 months life expectancy.
JMO!

So OEM is better in terms of life expectancy ...

But is there any safety concern from After Market models ?

Also do you have a video for the Broiler igniter replacement?

Thankx for the pic :)
Your full model# is LRG3095ST/00

So OEM is better in terms of life expectancy ...

It has been our experience yes.

But is there any safety concern from After Market models ?

Not with igniters that I am aware of.

Both bake and broil came up with the same part# for me.

This is a good general/universal style igniter we use that is cheaper than the OEM but is NOT a no-name part.
We just reuse the old bracket.

I don't know of any broil specific videos, sorry.

Thanks for sharing .... Actually the igniter you shared is not deliverable to Canada...
I will here for other options.

Thank you 🙏

It would be available from Reliable or Marcone Parts in the Toronto area.

by the way, just to be sure it is an igniter problem.
Can I swap the Bake's igniter with the broiler's one for testing purpose.? (bake is working fine)

As I said I recently moved to the house, today I found a new problem in the bake mode.

It takes very long time for pre-heat and sometime it shows F11 error ..

I searched in forum and looks like an igniter problem also for bake .. that means I have change both igniters .(bake and broil) .. OEM will cost half price of a new model ...I get the after market from the Hamilton guy you shared

I just want to share those photos to confirm the error .

Also .. I read some posts the self cleaning could damage the igniter .. is that correct?

I also have heard an LG range F11 can be a weak ignitor or a burner not lighting fast enough...I also heard the temp sensor should be checked as it should ohm 1000-1100 ohms at room temp (70ºF).
Cleaning, high room humidity can effect the hot surface igniter :(
I have not seen the first code before, sorry.

Hello

Day 2 investigation: .. I had a crazy scenario..

I started the bake mode and started to measure the current in the igniter using a clamp multimeter, it was less than 2.7 Amper,,, the fire glow after complete 3 minute .. at this moment, the igniter reached 2.9.

I understand that this is an indication of weak igniter
I also measured resistance of the igniter and it was around 250 ohm.

Then I started to do the same steps with the broil igniter, but I found that the head was already broken (open circuit).

The last test was quite crazy for me ... I decided to test baking igniter in the broil, at least I wanted to see the broil glow, and when I connected to the broil .. it is became dead .. no current .. and it is not glowing any more ... I thought that it might be a problem in the board that it is not sending any signal.to the broil circuit..

I took the igniter igniter against measured the resistance again. But it gave me a different vale.. like 2000 ohm (instead of 250 ohm .. half an hour before). Then actually the igniter head broke in my hand ..

I am not sure exactly what happened to that igniter .. could be one of the following..but I suggest the 2nd.

1- could the circuit board cause any damage to the igniter.

2- the igniter was already weak and can be easily damages ...
The head broke with almost no force .. it that a sign of weak igniter?

Those oven igniters should draw 3 to 3.5 amps to open the gas safety valve. 2.7 or 2.9 amps does indicate a weak igniter.

1- could the circuit board cause any damage to the igniter.

*Normally* it happens the other way around, an igniter damages the control/board.

2- the igniter was already weak and can be easily damages ...
The head broke with almost no force .. it that a sign of weak igniter?

Not normally a sign.

To update you ..
I purchased two igniters and replaced them. And they worked very well for both bake and broil.
The new igniter resistance around 90 ohm when it is cold, and when it starts almost at 1.5 Ampere, and then gradually the current reaches 3.5 A where it is getting hot.

Thank you very much for advices I received here.

The igniter Brand is called supco, most of parts shops sell this brand or the OEM., It was for $90 + tax .. the photo of the box attached.

However, on Amazon there were cheaper options, like a brand called Pistek, but I wasn't sure how good is it.
