I have an lg side by side. First issue was when getting ice one day it would not stop dispensing ice. Then it button to get ice no longer worked. It makes ice fine. Water works fine. Then it would make a humming sound for 15 or so seconds. Two day later the ice dispenser would come on by it self and try to give ice. I had to remove the little metal auger drive piece. Now about every 15 to 20 minutes the auger comes on and runs for 30 seconds. Any ideas where to start?

I don't see a physical ice dispenser switch, looks like the dispenser cover controls the ice and water lever switch:

Here's another person that had this similar problem:

Like I mentioned, I didn't see a microswitch or I would of mentioned to check that first.

Can you point out your microswitch in the parts diagram please?

It tested all good. Now I am not sure what to check next. The ice auger just comes on about every 15 minutes, runs for 30 or so seconds.

Took ice maker assembly out and the motor was very hot, I think it has shorted inside and tries to run continuously. I have ordered a new one.

Not unless you see that in the service manual I posted in post #2.

Which motor? The ice maker motor? Or Auger motor that dispenses the ice out?
