So a couple days ago I pulled the trigger on a LG LRDCS2603S (single fridge door, bottom freezer, 32.75" wide). Will be delivered in 2 weeks.
Then I start learning more about the issues LG refrigerators have experienced- especially regarding the problems with the linear compressors failing. So they settled the class-action lawsuit related to compressor failures between 2014 and 2017 that resulted in compensation to owners for repairs etc but does that mean the issues were resolved or was that just when the lawyers decided to end the plaintiff recruiting? Are the compressors made since 2017 all good or are they still having reliability problems?
My problem is that in the location I want to put a fridge in our kitchen the new refrigerator can be no taller than 68.75" or wider than 33". My wife dislikes with a passion the side-by-side Frigidaire we currently have, I dislike how noisy it is so we were looking for a standard depth french or single door freezer on the bottom. Ideally with stainless steel doors.
We don't have a lot of choices, the GE that's closest (GDE25EYKFS) is 2 1/2" deeper which is a problem as we have an island in the middle of the kitchen and it would reduce the space between the fridge and the island to 30 inches. The only other thing that comes close is a Whirlpool WRB322DMBM. Which I was leaning towards, but the freezer storage system is pretty weird. Overall my wife preferred the amenities and features of the LG.
What's the skinny?
