FIXED LSQ9549LW1 Whirlpool top load washer makes loud noise during spin

THE washer agitates fine, but in spin it makes a loud noise (see video below). It does drain. I tightened the drive block and checked the couplings which all look good. I've replace both before. Also replaced the clutch in 2014. Any ideas? One parts website recommended replacing the basket drive, but thats a $150 part and I can't see where the failure is in the part.

I'm going to start by replacing the clutch.

In that video, was it even spinning when it was making that noise?

Do you see the silver clutch turning when it should be spinning in the spin cycle?

You'd have to jump the lid switch so the washer will spin in the spin cycle, this link shows you how to do that: Bypass Direct drive washer lid switch from consol plug

The silver clutch is just above the gearcase.

If its not turning, your gearcase is shot.

If the silver clutch is tuning and if your motor coupler looks fine, then you'd need a new clutch. Whenever I replace the clutch I always replace the basket drive assembly as well, as they both work together.

Replaced clutch, couplers, brake cam driver and agitator dogs. The spin is Still loud and slow. Almost sounds like the brakes are dragging?

Thanks for your assistance knowledge. I climbed under and recorded it in spin mode. Clutch is spinning but the brakes seem to be starting and stopping it or slowing it down? I didn’t replace the basket drive.

Seems more like the transmission is the problem, that silver clutch is not not turning very well.

I saw signs of oil flung out radially on the inside walls of the cabinet. Would this be a sign of a failing transmission?

I replaced the transmission and sure enough that fixed the problem. Thanks again.
