I bought a washer and dryer used about a month a go. Everything worked fine until I came home and found my clothes still wet. I opened and closed the lid several times but could not get it to spin. after a few hours, I tried the spin cycle on the delicate spin and it worked. Now the spin cycle works but I have to open and close the lid for every spin cycle to get the washer to spin my clothes dry.

Nothing on this board mentions that the spin cycle works when the lid has been opened and clothed. Any suggestions? I paid $150 for the washer and dryer. Is it worth it to fix?

A copy:

Direct drive washers are a neutral drain washer, means the timer allows the washer to pump out the water and then the timer pauses ( stops ) the washer so the neutral drive in the gearbox can reset for spinning, and when the timer allows the washer to start back up again the pumping will continue and spinning will occur.

YOU are creating the pause by lifting the lid.

If the pause is not there, very possible a bad timer.
If the pause is there, the tranny/gear box is at fault.

If needed:
