hello

i am having problem with a magic chef stove, 30" slide in:

- model # 6898VRV

- serial # 06C339363270

the top burners work fine

the oven thermostat seems to heat up to less than what it is set to

ie:
- set to 350, heats up to 100
- set to 450, heats up to 250
- set to 500, heats up to 300
- set to 550, heats up to 350

the stove is about 8 years old, we don't use the oven much

any suggestions on how to fix it ???

can the thermostat be easily replaced ??

thank you for your help

jim

first thx for your help

i did take off the back, saw that there was not enough wire to pull through the sensor wire from the inside

i was able to disconnect the sensor wire in back and tested the leads there

bad news..... it read 1100 ohms...

ARGHH... does that mean for sure that the sensor is working properly ???

i've read that the other part is the main control unit that about $250

is it worth the effort to try a new sensor ??

any ideas

much thx and happy new year

1100 ohms is normal for the sensor. Sorry to say, but it sounds like the control board is bad. Its pretty expensive for that part.
