MAV6257AWW Maytag Atlantis - Runs through full cycle, but only drains when manually resetting knob back to spin

Have a Maytag Atlantis - MAV6257AWW

The dial when set will run thru all cycles on all clothing types (colors, whites, delicates) - no custom cycles are selected. However, when it reaches the "OFF" section there is full amount of water in the tub. It doesn't drain.
YET - if I manually move the knob to "SPIN" and turn on it will immediately drain and finish the spin cycle as it should (no water left in the tub and clothes spun properly).

I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this one? I'm confused why it will drain properly when I manually set it on spin. I've tried all three clothing settings (colors, whites, delicates) and it still will not drain when going through the cycles. But if I manually set knob to spin, it drains and finishes the spin cycle?

The problem is the timer.

Hi Jake - thanks for the information.

Just so I can make a cost/benefit assessment - what's your level of confidence that will correct the issue fully? That's a pretty pricey part and really on the cusp dollar wise of probably just buying a new unit.
Which is too bad because that washer has been a dang monster. Guessing close to 15 years old or more.

I'm 100% sure it will fix the problem, I've seen this exact problem happen on my service calls before.

I know the timer is expensive, so you weigh the cost versus a new washer. Also other parts are naturally wearing as you continue to use the washer at 15 years old, so you have to think about that too.
