After going through the diagnostic mode and getting the error codes my Maytag model mvwx655dw0 has two codes F7E6 & F7E5. I can't find anything online that tells me what the codes mean (for my model) so that I know what to fix. It makes a very loud noise between the rinse and spin cycle. Can anyone help?

F7E5 - Shifter fault
F7E6 - Motor Fault

Tilt the machine backward and climb under it to see if the shifter came loose, I've been hearing about this happening and there's a service bulletin out for it. I've personally never seen it.

I would focus on the shifter and not the motor for now.

Thank you to both of you for your help! I just took the I was thinking it was the gear case because it seems to be stripped of any grooves to turn the drive block. Could it be both?

So after replacing the shift actuator it works good as new and the wash plate no longer spins independent of the drum. So problem solved. Thanks for the help everyone.
