Hello!

I have a less than 2 year old Maytag Bravos XL Washing machine.

A couple of weeks ago, the DL code would randomly turn on and the door would not lock during the wash, causing my machine not to start washing a load of clothes.

After unplugging the machine several times, letting it sit unused for a few hours, wiping around the DL area, the machine would work. It would work for a couple of cycles and then I would have the same problem.

I went into diagnostic mode and found code F84. At this point, I was still able to lock the lid being in diagnostic code manually. I decided I need a new lid lock and went to bed for the day.

My husband used the machine the next day and the lid locked, and it worked!

This was a week ago. Last night, the machine stopped working again, expect this time diagnostic code manual locking did not function.

Now the machine is just blinking the DL code and beeping constantly. I cannot enter diagnostic mode because the machine does not go into standby, so I cannot test the manual lid lock.

I think this is an electrical problem rather than a malfunctioning door lock, but I'm not an appliance repair person!
Thank you for any help you can provide!

I should also note that before the machine just completely stopped working, the machine would DL code during cycles and stop the cycle.

Hi,

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below, look on Page 3

ERROR CODE DL=Lid Lock Failure

dL flashes if the following conditions occur: Lid is not closed completely due to interference.

--->Check for lock interference with lid or lock bezel.
--->Wash media buildup is preventing the lock bolt from extending.
Machine/motor control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.

If the two above with the arrows is fine, then --->See TEST #8, page 6

Let us know what your find.

Jake

Did you already replace the Lid Switch?

Here's the new OEM upgraded lid switch for your model:

My bravos xl top load is having similar issues. It would turn on but when you went to turn the knob or push any selection it would beep three times. I unplugged it for 5 mins and plugged it back in and pushed start and it worked no problem. This went on for maybe 2 weeks and then the unplugging stopped working to reset machine. I ran an error code and I think it was F5 E4 or 3 (I can’t remember - said something about running 3 cycles without opening lid which wasn’t true. I somehow managed to accidentally run some different machine operations in diagnostic mode I’m guessing. Was single digit numbers on the display and the machine filled with water and drained. I tried to run the error codes again today to make sure of what it was and I can’t get the error codes to run. Only getting the three beeps again. Any ideas?

I had my door lock replaced last October. $190 with labor! Now it's doing the same thing. DL when I try to start the washer. I called repair. The part has a 1-year warranty. Labor does not. Labor to install again $100!!! I'm pretty sure we can install the new part but Maytag should be responsible for this happening on their machines. Mine is only 3 years old. I'm very disappointed.

My concern is how do I know if it’s really the door lock? All I get are the three beeps. I plugged it in a little while ago and it looked like it was going to work so I hurried up and grabbed my son’s work clothes. I pushed start and instead of the three beeps and nothing it made the clunk like the door lock does and I thought hallelujah here we go. After the clunk it froze and then when I tried to push anything or turn the knob I got the infamous three beeps. So do you think I should order the door lock part and cross my fingers? My machine is less than 2 years old too!
