Hello!

I have a less than 2 year old Maytag Bravos XL Washing machine.

A couple of weeks ago, the DL code would randomly turn on and the door would not lock during the wash, causing my machine not to start washing a load of clothes.

After unplugging the machine several times, letting it sit unused for a few hours, wiping around the DL area, the machine would work. It would work for a couple of cycles and then I would have the same problem.

I went into diagnostic mode and found code F84. At this point, I was still able to lock the lid being in diagnostic code manually. I decided I need a new lid lock and went to bed for the day.

My husband used the machine the next day and the lid locked, and it worked!

This was a week ago. Last night, the machine stopped working again, expect this time diagnostic code manual locking did not function.

Now the machine is just blinking the DL code and beeping constantly. I cannot enter diagnostic mode because the machine does not go into standby, so I cannot test the manual lid lock.

I think this is an electrical problem rather than a malfunctioning door lock, but I'm not an appliance repair person!
Thank you for any help you can provide!

I should also note that before the machine just completely stopped working, the machine would DL code during cycles and stop the cycle.

Hi,

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below, look on Page 3

ERROR CODE DL=Lid Lock Failure

dL flashes if the following conditions occur: Lid is not closed completely due to interference.

--->Check for lock interference with lid or lock bezel.
--->Wash media buildup is preventing the lock bolt from extending.
Machine/motor control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.

If the two above with the arrows is fine, then --->See TEST #8, page 6

Let us know what your find.

Did you already replace the Lid Switch?
