I have a Maytag dishwasher that I picked up used When I hooked it up it worked. But could not use all the cycles but she cleaned. Last night the washer is completely dead. Thought it might have been a door latch, but that checked out. I pull off the cover over the ribbon going to the touch pad, and below is what I got.
May be a stupid question but, not having any experience with ribbons, I'm not sure if that is burnt. I'd rather ask a silly question than assume.
My assumption is some buttons on the touch pad didn't work from the time I put it in. So I figure, a couple of the wires were already burnt, the rest must have happen last night.
Does anyone know if that seems correct.
Also if that is the issue, Is it even worth trying to fix?
Any advice would be greatly apricated.

There's no significant voltage in the keypad that would cause that. Unless it is in direct contact with other electrical wires it is unlikely to be burning. There might be a slim chance it was somehow damaged from previous service. Otherwise it might just be a buildup of mold or mildew, etc.

If cleaning it doesn't help, the control panel with keypad might need to be replaced.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your reply.
I was so convinced they were burn marks, I never even attempted wiping it off.
I will do that as soon as I get home.
I'll let you know what happens.

I haven't seen anything that extensive myself. Maybe try just a small amount of alcohol on a cloth. Don't rub so hard so you damage any of the foil traces.
