My Maytag dryer just now started not working, since last used a couple of days ago. With power connected, pressing the power button gives no response. No lights on the console and nothing. Checked the power plug and make sure it is good. I took apart the front and top panels, and found that the only thing that responds to power connection is the constant buzzing sound from a little white component on the control board, guessing it is the chimer.

Any advice for how to troubleshoot it would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

These MDG9700AWW models were made by Samsung just before Maytag was bought out by Whirlpool.

Here's the repair manual for your dryer: www.applianceblog.com/manuals/16025911.pdf

Its either the console board went out, which is no longer available: https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Control-Board/35001154/1122534

Or the main control board went out, no longer powering the console board.

Here's the main control board for model:

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below, but its very vague on telling us how to check for proper power to the console board, I don't even see it mentioned. The wiring diagram is on Page 8, but does not say anything about voltage checking it.

Hi Jake, Thanks for the reply and great information!
I tried to look for how to test to determine whether it is the control board or the console board with Google too. Not much information showed up.
Seems like I will have to take a bet?
