Our maytag washer has started making a high pitched noise during the duration of the spin cycle. I'm not sure what the problem is or if it is something we can figure out how to fix, but I'd like to try if it isn't too hard.

Hi LaMarr,

Tilt the washer back--->If the belt checks fine, while you have the belt off turn the drain pump pulley both ways, it should turn smooth both ways. If not, then that is the culprit making that noise.

Here's the drain pump for your model, in case you need to order it:

Also check the motor pulley to make sure its not melted.
