Replaced direct drive transmission with a new oem part. The washer agitates as it should. At the end of the agitation the washer pasues with its normal wait period. The neutral drain begins but runs for about 2 seconds then jumps into the spin cycle with the tub still filled with water. Tried all washing cycles on the machine and it does it each and every time. Is this a bad timer or did I get a bum part?
Before replacing new, old transmission drained correctly. I replaced because I thought I had an agitation issue with old transmisson.

That's too short of 'neutral' period. The only thing that should affect the timing of the cycle is the timer itself.

Is this a bad timer

I can't see anything else being responsible. Too bad a replacement is ridiculously expensive.

You might be able to find a brand new 'old stock' or good used one cheaper at the following link:

FYI - Thanks Don for your input. I had a backup timer. Replaced and still had the same problem. Put the old transmisson back in. Works like a champ. Obviously a defective OEM part right out of the box. It's going back.

I was thinking this meant the timer paused to switch into spin mode. If it was switching into spin even without the timer pause, yes the trans would have to be responsible.

You're the second person this week that said a "new" neutral drain transmission wasn't switching between drain and spin/drain properly.

Poor quality control??
