I have an 8 year old Maytag French door bottom freezer refrigerator. The dispenser light quit working. I have checked all wiring connections at the top of the door hinge - they all appear to be tight. I have cleaned the entire dispenser area with white vinegar and a tooth brush - there was quite a build up of iron from our water. There appears to be some iron/dirt under plastic cover where light bulbs are - I cannot see any way to get in there to clean it. I also cannot find any information as to replacing these bulbs or any kind of troubleshooting? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note - I will be replacing the rear electronic control board for another issue with the refrigerator, so I’m not sure if the two are tied together?

That's the first thing that came to my mind, did this dispenser light quit working at the exact same time your main control board went haywire?

It actually went out a couple years ago - so I guess that's why I didn't know if they were connected, maybe a bad circuit on the control panel?

I just looked at your owners manual and it says this:
• The dispenser lights are LEDs which should not need to be changed.
• When you use the dispenser, the lever will automatically turn the light on. If you want the light to be on continuously, you may choose either On or Auto.

So, I'd wait until you installed the new main control board and see if the dispenser LEDs start working again.

Will do. Any idea how I would clean inside the plastic covers over the LED lights? I don't know if that build up in there is effecting anything or not?

Yes, here's the instructions below.

Do the steps in removing the Water Dispenser Facade first, then the Chute Extension/Yoke Assembly next. Don't worry about the Low Voltage Board.

Thanks. We installed the new rear electronic control board, but the light is still not working. I haven't been able to get off front facade yet as I was unsure as to how much pressure to use. It feels pretty secure and doesn't move at all. I don't know if the last bit of cleaning on the inside will make a difference with the light working or not.

Ok,

Then this is the part you will need to fix that dispenser light:
WP13005705 Chute

That's the only instructions I have to disassemble it.
