So, I've come to find out that my Maytag Bravos XL MVWB880BW0 isn't draining/spinning. The code SD is on the display. The tub spins very easily by hand although I'm not sure how it is supposed to feel. I can barely get the agitator to move by hand. Same thing though, how is it supposed to feel? I did find a manual for this on line but the troubleshooting seems limited. I'm suspecting this could have something to do with the agitator, but I would love a more seasoned technician to chime in. :)

Well, I set it to rinse and drain. I watched the washer do everything it was supposed to. Adding water. Seeing the agitator go back and forth. Saw the pump draining. However when it came time to spin the load, all you would hear is a quiet buzzing sound like a loaded up motor, and the tub would move half a turn or so. Then turn back and drain some water. This will repeat over and over without spinning.

Yes, usually SD error is the basket hub.

Read post #7 here:
That Kenmore is made by Whirlpool, which owns Maytag, and uses the same exact basket hub yours does.

Here's the basket hub for your model:

Let us know how it goes after you replace it.

Is there anything else that should be replaced while I'm in there? Is the white circle a bearing?

So my parts finally arrived. The drive hub splines were heavily worn and I could see where it was slipping. The first load is still in, but it seems to be working much better...already past the previous error point. I wonder how long it has been limping along? As it sure sounds like it has a bad bearing in it now. The new drive hub was tight to install even after wire brushing the shaft, but I was able to use a deep socket and with a couple of good pushes on it went. I am thinking that the bearings have been bad for awhile, but couldn't tell as the drive hub was masking it. Any thoughts?

That's good news.(y)

Yes, it sounds like your main bearing(tub seal and drive shaft repair kit) is starting to fail as well.

Here's the tub seal and drive shaft repair kit for your model:

Here's the bearing and seal tool to do this job, if you decide to:

You're the best. I'll get those coming and let you know how it works out. Thanks again!

Ok, sounds good.:)
