Heard a cracking noise when opening dishwasher door. Thought it would be the latch assembly, but no, it is the plastic screw holes that are disintegrated and broken off. The control panel is discontinued to my dismay so I am looking for a way to McGyver this part. Maytag MBD6601AWS. Control panel part # WPL-6-919822.

There is no set method. If the missing bits had just sheared off, i might have suggested Krazy glue with epoxy added around it. What they tried in the video looks as good as any try I've seen.

If the holes are deep enough, you could also try finding a slightly longer screw, one that is long enough to go into the remaining original plastic.

Let us know how you make out.

I ordered a new switch as the handle was also disintegrated( sucks that you can't just order the handle). Installed it, but I have no power to the control board. I reseated the ribbon into the power board, but no joy! Where is the power, my people.

I am not seeing a thermal fuse on the control board anywhere. Also when I was inspecting the wiring I got a little buzz from the switch on the latching mechanism. Is that enough to blow something?

I do not see one shown on the wiring diagram.

Maybe. Did it occur before or after you notice the problem?

I don't know what those numbers are. The switch(es) just needs to be tested for continuity to see if they're being activated when the door is latched.

I don't know anything else specifically to test besides the wiring connections if it worked previous to the current repair.

Well, I guess I'm headed to the store to buy a new dishwasher as I cannot see why I am not getting any power. I do think the screw hole procedure would have worked for those who encounter this problem with disintegrated plastic. I did not use glue but chose to use JB weld instead. It was solid and easily workable to form the base for the screws to hold. Too bad as this dishwasher washed very well. Thank you for the advice and contributions.

I'm sorry that I can't think of any other possibilities to suggest. Maybe a local repair person would be cheaper than a new D/W?
