Hi All--not the first time you all have heard of a touchpad going bad for this maytag model I am sure. Of course the only button that stopped working is the start button. Is there any way to start the washer without it (override it somehow)?

Also, does anyone have the spec sheet for this model? And lastly, is there any way to purchase the touchpad without the control panel or are they all package deals?

Thanks!!!!!

Hi Jim, I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below. Usually the keypad is the problem when this happens, but you can do the test below to confirm it.

A blinking LED over one of the keys of the keypad (or sometimes a “dead” keypad/console) indicates one or more key switch lines are stuck or shorted on the control board or the keypad(aka Touchpad and Control Panel). To determine if the control board or keypad is faulty, do the following test:

Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power Open the dishwasher door. Open console and disconnect the keypad ribbon connection from the control board (at P1). Make sure all other connections are made. Put console back together. Do not close the dishwasher door. Plug in dishwasher or reconnect power. Wait 5 seconds. Close dishwasher door. Monitor the control board response.

➔If the control board is OK (no longer sees shorts with the keypad unplugged), it will respond by turning on the drain motor for 2 minutes. Replace the keypad if the control board responds OK.

➔If the control board is not OK (still sees shorts with the keypad unplugged), then the drain motor will NOT respond. If drain motor does not start within 10 seconds, repeat or verify that all steps were followed, and then replace the control board.

Here's the control panel keypad assembly for your model:

Unfortunately, you can only get the keypad with the control panel.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks so much for the reply! However, if I can only buy a touchpad along with a control panel, is this test even necessary if both need to be replaced anyway? Just a thought--

And thanks for the tech sheet

Jim,

The touchpad(aka keypad) and control panel are one in the same. You can't get one without the other.

Now the control board is seperate from the touchpad(aka keypad) and control panel.

Here's the control board for your model:

➔If the control board is not OK (still sees shorts with the keypad unplugged), then the drain motor will NOT respond. If drain motor does not start within 10 seconds, repeat or verify that all steps were followed, and then replace the control board.
