Maytag

1-5 years
Today my just over 2 year old Maytag dishwasher let me down..When I opened the top rack and pulled it out the left side of rack fell down..I managed to grab it and emptied the dished from the rack while holding it.

But we could not get the sliding rails back into each other..it seems like maybe it was "tacked down" or together at one time and that must have broken... No way could we get it together.

I have called whirlpool..rack is warrantied (limited) but not the rails.............is this common..? Sheesh its only 2 yrs old !!. they have to have someone come out.. so theres a service call.

I just am disappointed this would happen so soon after purchase Any info as always appreciated.

Hi Cody,

I located a service bulletin about this issue. What is the serial number of your dishwasher?

Upper-Rack Rails Separating
Serial Numbers: Serial Number Range: F001 - F823

Possible Concern:
It is possible that consumers may experience one or more of the following: upper-rack rails separating, operational malfunction of upper-rack rails, or the presence of corrosion.

Correction:
New rails are heat-stake bonded and should not exhibit these concerns.
Previous rails have been eliminated from production & service inventories.

Thank you our serial F81613193
And we saw some corrosion on the slots of rail .. thought that was odd and if the left one broke then probably the right one will soon as well !!

So whirlpool knows about this..
What do I do next ?

And could we somehow wrap the rail and rack together so it would stayin place so i could at least use the bottom rack ?

Yes, Whirlpool knows about this.

Contact Whirlpool and tell them yours is covered. Have them look up this--->Technical Service Pointer #: W11296667
