• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hello! I have a over the range microwave (model ME18H704SFS) that appears to have a broken door or latch relay. Frequently, after firmly closing the door, the light remains on and the unit will not start. Other times the counter will begin to countdown and the turntable will rotate, but no noise from the fan or megatron. Still other times there will be a clicking on and off in rapid succession with the light going on and off. All this leads me to believe there is a faulty connection or relay between the door and unit. The trick to get it to function seems to be forcefully closing the door but putting slight pressure upward.

is there a simple part that could be replaced? Or the entire door?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Remove power from the machine. Remove the control panel so you can access the three interlock switches in the latch assembly. Remove the wires from the interlock switches one at a time and check each switch for continuity by opening and closing the door.
