• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Tonight a run cycle was stopped before the timer ran out. The interior light went out but the MW sounded like it was still running, only not quite as loud. It eventually powered off - as in lost power. I unplugged for 20 seconds and plugged back in. Power was restored but the unit immediately sounded like it was running again, but interior light was not on. Exhaust fan function worked, light brightness could be cycled through. I set a 2 second run cycle and turned off after 1 second. MW stopped as expected.

Video attached to hear it running without a timer cycle. Again, it’s not quite as loud as when it’s actually running.

EDIT: if the door is opened while the unit is “running” it stops. It starts again as soon as the door is closed.

I assume it’s the transformer I hear, but why.

When the MW is turned on for a timed cycle it runs but doesn’t heat.

Thanks in advanced.
