My Whirlpool french door fridge had a non-working water/ice door dispenser. We called the repairman to fix it. He just replaced the pump, water tank and filter fill nozzle. Water dispenser works great now. But, a new problem started immediately. Water is leaking out of the ice dispense chute in a steady stream (apprx a quart overnight). The ice tray is one solid block of ice, I can't even open it to turn off the ice maker. We've turned off the water to stop the flow of water on the floor. If I'm reading the date codes correctly, the fridge is a 2010. I've already sunk $900 and really don't want to spend more...only to not fix it. I guess at this point I'm wondering if I should just go buy a new one and turn this one into a garage fridge.
Does anyone have any ideas, that aren't expensive, to get the ice maker to stop leaking and actually make ice cubes? Or is it just old and needs to be retired?
