• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

My Samsung microwave had power but did not cook, so we bought a new magnetron. The supplier gave us a LG magnetron. We replaced the magnetron and without closing the cover, tried out the microwave first. It worked, but as soon as we close the cover and try cooking something, it cuts out at about 2 - 3 seconds. It even happens when we bring the cover close to the microwave without touching it! Could it be that the LG magnetron is incompatible or is there a different problem now?

Hi,

South Africa?
This model# won;t come up here, parts and design is likely different from here also.
Kinda -sounds- like an air flow issue to me....but you should check with someone a little closer to home.

jeff.
