• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

    ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

    Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
    ...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

MR5471G Samsung Microwave stuck in POTCHIP mode

I have a Samsung MR5471G microwave that is stuck in a mode thae says POTCHIP . None of the buttons do anything. I unplugged it for an hour, but still in that mode. Also when I plug it back in the microwave starts on its own. The only way to stop it is open the door or unplug it.

Time to go microwave shopping. The part you need is most likely the control panel. The part will cost more than a new microwave. The control panel for that model is no longer available. That model machine has been discontinued.

Thank you, I kind of figured that might be the case, but thought there might be some way to get it re booted some how. Thanks for your help.
