My MVWB865GW0 Maytag washer which is only 3 years old, is now suddenly producing 2-3 times as much noise on its spin cycle. The repair guy that came out as part of our Appliance Protection program stated that the "center bearing" is failing and it's only a matter of time before the washer will fail. They won't do the repair. Further, Maytag stated that this isn't covered under their warranty. A few questions:

- Is the center bearing the same as the tub bearing?
- Is this a common part to fail?
- Can the part be purchased and easily replaced? I have the diagnosis already, so if I had a repair guy come out we would already know what needs to be fixed.
- Is this a repair that is done easily DIY?

Thanks!
