Sorry if I’m posting the wrong way , this is my very first post . My Maytag washer fills up with water , works fine until the light switches to wash light cycle . It seems as if the agitator is not engaging properly . It drains and spins just fine . I’m attaching a video in hopes that it helps diagnose the problem . Thank you in advanced for your help

Hi,

Does the basket turn freely both ways?

It sounds like something is wrong with the shift actuator not engaging properly, either due to the shift actuator itself OR the splutch cam being stripped. Both of those parts are underneath the washer, also check the belt under there too.

Here's the tech. data sheet for your model: https://drive.google.com/open?id=13EInFAAf99HeIgo6JNhYxCuG3RSqZdZG

You can check for any error codes:
Page 2 of your tech. data sheet do: ACTIVATING THE SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES, Then do FAULT CODE DISPLAY MODE on Page 3, Then you can see what fault code you are getting on Page 6 and Page 7: FAULT/ERROR CODES

Verify that the cam on the splutch is moving freely and not binding. Also check the splutch assembly plastic cam teeth to make sure its NOT worn down to smooth.

Here's the shift actuator for your model:

Here's the sputch cam kit for your model:

Let us know what you find.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Jake, yes the basket turns freely both way , it’s spins and rinses correctly , it’s just that when it goes to the ‘wash’ light this clicking noise happens .

I replaced the shift actuator yesterday as I thought that might’ve been the problem at first , however it persisted after the installation.

Now I’m not sure if I needed to do any sort of reset on the machine after installation? But my next step is checking the splutch cam kit !

Yes, now check the splutch cams to see if the teeth are grinded down to smooth.

Jake

Jake, I installed new splutch kit & shift actuator . I triple checked that everything was in the right place . However when I try to run the machine now , nothing happens . It just gets stuck on the ‘sensing’ light . I’m not sure why

Unplug the machine for 30 minutes, then try it.

If it still does not work, clear the error codes and try again.

Page 3 of the tech data sheet tells you how to clear the error codes:
To clear fault codes:
--->Turn cycle selector knob until the status LEDs flash ON and OFF (see figure 2, page 2).
---> Press and hold the START button for 3 seconds to clear all fault codes and exit Fault Code Display Mode.
