Myth, or Truth regarding Washing Machines

An appliance tech that recently visited us to look at our Kenmore Elite Oasis HE told us that we should replace our unit with an old-school pull-knob washing machine, not one with more elaborate computer boards. (our computer board was shot after 2 years - and he said they have TONS of problems with these) He recommended pull-knob Whirlpool or LG.

Is there any truth to this?

We have a Kenmore Elite - Oasis HE. The seriel # is CT1370627.

Model # - 110.27082601.

The computer board (?) went out and the washer would always default to "clean washer". So, when we turned it on and pushed any button, it would shift to clean washer and we couldn't actually wash the clothes. An appliance tech (local company) said the computer was shot. Ordered the part - it was on backorder - and when it came in, it still didn't work.

Do all washers have the same sort of computer board? And, would you recommend staying away from some of the more computer oriented ones? What about the truth of sticking with Whirlpool or LG?

Thanks.
