The front touch pad on my 6 yr old Samsung (NE58F9500SS) slide-in electric range is warm or hot to the touch even after oven and burners have been off overnight. The touch pad is still lighting up and everything is functioning normally with all features on the unit working, but it is noticeably warm or hot to the touch. It is hottest in the middle and left side of the touch pad and less hot on the right half. What could be the cause of this? Is this an early sign that the touch pad and/or PCB behind it are failing?

That doesn't sound good. Does the vent on the oven door of the range feel hot too or just the control panel? If it's just the control panel, I would unplug the range to be on the safe side. Jake or Rick will give you an answer to what they think it could be.

That is very odd, have not run into that problem as of yet.

Possibly the display board is starting to fail and drawing too many amps, thus making it hot.

Unfortunately, its No Longer Available:

Only the control panel is hot, not the oven door or anything else. On the panel, the center is hottest and the left is a little less hot, and the right side of the panel is not affected and is not hot or warm.
That's good advice about unplugging.

UPDATE:

I got a new genuine Samsung OEM control panel from a seller on ebay. Got it installed and, unfortunately, the original problem is still happening. So we can rule out the touchpanel and it's circuit board as those are now replaced. What else could be causing it to get hot?

Some of the wires are warm as noted in attached photo. The rest of the wires are not hot or warm.

@Jake,

Do you have a service manual or wiring diagram for this model?

Any other suggestions as to what could cause this?

Thanks!

Nope, I don't.

I really have no clue what's causing this.

Its best to have Samsung come out at this point to see what's going on.

You can contact Samsung at 800-726-7864
