Hi, I have a new Samsung electric range, and I'm having some trouble with the touch panel. Anytime I haven't used it in a few hours, it doesn't respond to any inputs. Then it seems like it warms up and will be fine after the initial problem. I'll post a video. This was first thing in the morning. After this video, everything was fine for a while.

What could be the cause for this and what is the solution?

Thanks 🙂

(Btw, this range was a replacement for a Samsung range that also had touch panel problems)

About the only things that might cause multiple buttons to not function might be a poor connection between the keypad and the electronic control or maybe a defect in the keypad itself. There might be a slim chance of a problem in the electronic control.

Someone should first try reseating the keypad's ribbon connector first. If needed, the keypad looks to be discontinued as no one seems to carry it. (I'm surprised since you indicate it is less than a year old!) There are however a couple keypads listed as available here:

Thanks for the reply. But why would it only do this after not being used for a few hours. Once it does it once, it works right after.

The range is only one day old lol Samsung still sells this model on their site, so I don't know why the keypad would be discontinued.

Until the cause is actually determined that is impossible to say. Loose connections are often erratic.

Than maybe it is just too new of model and no one has needed to carry stock of that part yet? I even tried the Samsung parts web site and they didn't even list the range model number yet!

I called Samsung about getting an exchange since it's only one day old and they offered me $200 to keep it and they're sending a technician to come look at it.

This is the model...

Btw, this is a replacement for my last Samsung that was less than a year old and had the same problem of the touch panel not working. The tech tried to fix that three times and deemed it not repairable, so they replaced it.

Hopefully this one is repairable. Are Samsungs known for having terrible/non-responsive touch controls?

Not to my knowledge but an actual Samsung servicer might be more in the loop for common problems. Ask them when they arrive.

Will do. Would you recommend trying this in the video below? Or just let the tech figure it out?

If it is under warranty you shouldn't be attempting to fix it at all. Doing so could avoid the warranty.
