Year old electric dryer, started with a grinding noise a few weeks back and got worse. Warranty expired in February...of course lol.. I could move the drum with my hand and it still sounded like something grinding. Pulled it apart thinking it was the drum bearing assembly. When drum cover was removed you could see drum was off center. Once drum was completely removed the back had black marks and spots where it was grinding on something. Pulled out bearing assembly and it looks brand new. The 2 wheels that the belt goes around move with no issues. I seen a post where the back wall of the dryer was dented and cause the left panel to push the drum into something causing it to grind but I unfortunately don't know a ton about dryer repair qnd cant afford someone to come look, it also took me way to long to pull apart so before I go replacing things and putting it back together I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

Hi,

HTX24EASKWS

I found HTX24EASK0WS

Bearing and bearing shaft do look ok.
Drum has been contacting the heating element and scraping against it for sure.
At min a new element cage time...

Heater and Housing Assembly

Make sure all 3 screws holding the shaft to the drum are tight.

HTX24EASK0WS isn't the same one, I know when I called the repair store he said there was an 0 but that model has a glass door and none of the parts are the same. I was thinking maybe the belt stretched out causing the drum to drop down cause when I removed the metal plate in the drum the hole in the middle wasn't lined up right, I of course didn't take a photo to explain lol. And Imaybe when it dropped down it started scraping on something...and with it being just a year old it just confuses me lol

The HTX24EASK0WS parts breakdown that I had a peek at didn't have a glass door.

If the belt stretched it would be too big and the drum would stop turning. The front support and rear bearing hols the drum in place.

Best of luck with the repair!
