After a recent storm and power surge, our fridge stopped working. Inside door lights are on, but no display. Compressor isn't turning on or anything. When I press any button on the display, all of the display lights go on - then off once I release any button. I cannot get the fridge to go into programming mode. Seems like your typical "replace control board" issue, right?
Here's what I've tried:
- Replaced control board twice (2 different boards from eBay, maybe that's my mistake) - same symptoms
- Replaced display board / display panel
- Unplug fridge and plug back in numerous times + combination of the above things
- Attempted various combinations to bring the board into programming mode - again, any time I press any button or combination of buttons, display lights all go on, then off once I release the buttons.
One thing I've noticed - the ice maker flap opens when I press the freezer up button, then closes when I presses the freezer down button.
Are my crappy eBay boards the culprit?
Should I just swallow my pride and spend the $300-$380 for an OEM board from AppliancePartsPros?
Should I move on with my life and just buy a new fridge?
Thanks!
