Hello,
My top load Amana NTW4650YQ0 washer is not spinning during the Final Spin section of the cycle, leaving very wet clothes, when the washer is set to Regular or Casual (probably others as well). However, it does properly spin and dry clothes when set to the Drain/Spin cycle. In Drain/Spin, the machine locks the lid and the lid lock light comes on and the spinning starts. In Regular, the machine never audibly locks the lid and the lid lock light never comes on during the Final Spin section. Can you help me identify the problem?

Thank you,
Eric

Hi Eric,

When it should be draining and spinning in the regular cycle what does it do instead? Do you hear any sound at all from it like its trying to drain or spin? or is it dead silent?

Here's your tech data sheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1psVH4VJFVWLEFo_Kf8Dwp9OlD8vPDuVG/view?usp=sharing

Get into the ACTIVATING THE SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES and see what fault code you get.

On Page 2 of your tech. data sheet do: ACTIVATING THE SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES

Then do FAULT CODE DISPLAY MODE on Page 3

Then you can see what fault code/codes you are getting on Page 6 and Page 7: FAULT/ERROR CODES

Let us know what you find.

Jake,
Thanks for the assistance. I have a F7E1 (basket speed fault) error and then F7E7 (motor unable to reach target rpm) as the two most recent fault codes. The two fault codes before that appear blank (f indicator flashes once but no other status lights).
During the cycle, i hear the drain pump going and water draining, there's the sound of what sounds like the spin motor running - it grinds on a few times - then it is silent until cycle completes (1-2 minutes of activity/noise at the start of final spin stage before silent).
Let me know if you need more info and thanks again.

Ok Eric, does the tub spin easy both ways? If so, that's a classic sign your shift actuator is the culprit.

Here's the shift actuator for your model you can order here:
WPW10006355 Shift Actuator

Video included in part link to access/replace it.

Let us know how it goes.

Jake,
The tub does spin easy both ways. I'll order and replace the shift actuator and let you know what happens. Thanks again!

Ok Eric, sounds good.

Jake,
So far, so good! After replacing the switch actuator, the lid locked and it did the drain/spin on regular. Thanks so much for the help!

Excellent Eric, glad to hear the new shift actuator fixed it.(y)

Thanks for the update!
