Hi all,
I have a Samsung Gas (propane) stove. Burners work fine. Model #NX58F5500SS

It wouldn't maintain oven temp. Replaced the temp sensor. That didn't fix it. Replaced the igniter, that didn't fix it. Decided to bake a cake in the oven, and took the floor out (or whatever you call it, so, I could watch the gas flame).

Oven starts up just fine. Gas ignites just fine.

Comes to temp just fine. Gas goes out. All is right with the world.

Temp starts to drop. Igniter comes on. Gas does not light.

I found that if I fist bump the side of the oven (with the edge of my fist), or just crack open the door, then it ignites.

Sounds like a stuck gas valve, but, the stove originally ignites just fine.

Looking for suggestions on next thing to check.

Thanks!

Just thought of something. Is it possible, the stove is NOT getting oxygen? Would that be the reason it starts just fine, but it helps to re-iginte when I crack the door open?

There have been a couple of times when I fist-bumped the stove a few times, and it didn't ignite, but, cracking open the door always had it reigite 100% of the time.

Hi,

I found that if I fist bump the side of the oven (with the edge of my fist), or just crack open the door, then it ignites.

Sounds like a stuck gas valve, but, the stove originally ignites just fine.

If the igniter is drawing 3 to 3.6 amps but the valve is not opening....does more sound like a bad gas safety valve.

I believe this is yours...

Normally not enough air will give odd coloured/looking flames.
When it does work the flame looks nice and blue?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, flame is nice and blue. Is there a vid around somewhere, about how to check the amps on the igniter?

Ok, found a vid on the wire to test. I'll try and test it tomorrow, and see what the draw is.
