Never noticed this before but the gas turns on and off on oven. You can hear it every few seconds ignite then go out. What could be causing this? See attached video for example of sound.

Appreciate your help.

Hi,

When the oven ignitor becomes weak it won't make the gas safety valve keep a constant flow of gas, thus it will keep cutting OFF and ON like that.:)

You'll can check the amps first from either of the two oven igniter wires.

Amperage range is 3.3 - 3.6 amps. You will need a Clamp style amp meter to check the amps when its ON and GLOWING.

If the Amps are lower than 3.3 amps when its ON and GLOWING, then your oven igniter is weak and will need to be replaced.

Here's the oven igniter for your model:

Another member had this same problem and I said the same thing to him and you can see it fixed his:

Let us know what you find.

Thank you, Jake! This was spot on. I ended up swapping the top ignitor assembly (broiler) for the bottom ignitor assembly to make sure it was the issue. It turns out that the swap did solve the problem.

I am not sure why, but the broiler also works correctly with the bad ignitor. (I was expecting the broiler to know have the issue due to the swap.) I am assuming I will need to replace it at some point but now I know what to do.

Thanks again for your help on this!

That's interesting, well since it quit working once, it will do it again eventually, so its best to order the new one and replace it anyways.:)

Jake, thank you for your advice. I have a similar issue (mine doesn't pulse quite as often, every 7-8 seconds or so). I read this thread, as well as the other one, where you were able to help, so I assume it's a well-known issue. Before I go ahead an order a new ignitor, I just want to make sure I don't have another underlying problem. While testing, I noticed that even though the gas valve cycles on and off, the ignitor still stayed lit constantly. I checked the broiler operation, and while I don't have the valve cycling problem there, the ignitor also stays on all the time while the broiler is working. Is this normal, and how it's supposed to operate? I know that each appliance is different, but on my furnace, once the has is on and lit, the ignitor shuts off, and it doesn't stay on all the time.
I am only asking this because I wonder if another underlying issue causes the ignitor to stay on constantly, so it wears it out prematurely. Really appreciate your help!

Jake, do you have an advice on how to check the amperage on the ignitor? I can't seem to figure out where to attach the clamps. Perhaps a YouTube video somewhere?

Do you have the exact same model number? NX58H5600SS/AA ?

Yes, do what I mentioned to do in post #2 above.
