Looking for a replacement thermostat for an older (I'm guessing 1970's) GE wall oven (Model # D24X1DC). I took out the old thermostat and it appears to be a Hotpoint model # 276C926P12. Any help on where to obtain this thermostat or one similar one that would work on this oven. I've attached pictures.

GE wall oven (Model # D24X1DC)

The model number is J D24X1DC

I'm guessing 1970's

It is older than that.

Looking for a replacement thermostat and it appears to be a Hotpoint model # 276C926P12.

276C926P12 is a manufacturing number, not a part number. It usually can't be traced.

The original thermostat was part # WB21X138 which was most recently substituted to part # WB21X5209 which has been discontinued for years. Used ones sometimes come up for auction on eBay.

Once upon a time there were companies that could rebuilt the original thermostat if you sent it to them for repair. You can try contacting some of the companies listed at the following link to see if they can do that for yours.

PS. Both ovens show using the same thermostats. If you use one oven more than the other, the thermostats might be able to be swapped with each other until a solution is found.

I have an old GE wall oven (model # J KS0660J4BG) that I obtained for spare parts. I’ve attached the model tag to this email for reference. Do you know if the thermostat from this model would work on the original thread referenced model number?

Good find.

Do you know if the thermostat from this model would work on the original referenced model number?

It should have the same wiring connections and will have the same temperature specifications. It might have different physical mounting, different knob shaft length and the knob orientation on the shaft, resulting in the knob pointing in the wrong direction at the various settings.

Measure the shaft lengths and check how each mounts. If those are ok, it should work. If the knob points in an incorrect direction, you might be able to use the other oven's knob as well.

BTW. The thermostat's sensor bulb that goes into the oven cavity is a tube and not a wire. You can bend it but if you crimp it, it will not sense the oven temperature and be rendered useless. Be careful of it during service.

Hi Dan,

I'm in a similar situation. My grandmother has a the same model as the original poster. Would this thermostat work? https://www.partselect.com/PS1765834-GE-WB20K10026-Thermostat.htm

I appreciate the help.

I have no idea. It is a totally different part. You can't just put anything in.

If her's is exactly the same model number (not just looks similar) what is needed is one of the part numbers I posted previously. If it is not the exact same model number oven, someone needs to look up which control it should take and look for that part.
