PAV5157AWW Maytag is noisy and has a burnt smell in the spin cycle.
When I took it apart I found what appears part of the thrust bearing kit under the machine. It looks like a plastic piece that wore outthat is held in by an e-clip. Will replacing the thrust bearing kit cure the problem, or should I be looking for something else?

Here's the parts diagram for your model:
PAV5157AWW
Diagram#8 part location#24 is the thrust bearing kit, in case others need to order it as well.
