Replaced our old GE Profile lemon of a dishwasher with a new GE Profile that they gave us at 1/2 price due to all the issues with the old one. It started making a clunking noise when running which has been steadily getting worse. It is definitely coming from the lower spray arm. Still makes the noise with an empty dishwasher, and I can sort of recreate it by spinning the spray arm by hand, but it's much worse in action, presumably due to effects of water pressure putting a load on the rotating assembly. It's bad enough now to be very distracting. Sounds like when our old one would hit the bottom point of square dishes not loaded properly.

Does someone have a link to the manual for this model? PDT715SMN2ES.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

I couldn't locate the service manual for this model.

It just sounds like the lower spray arm is loose and not locked into place.

Here's the lower spray arm for your model:

Watch this video, it shows you how it locks in place:

Thanks Jake - looks like they've simplified how that lower spray bar attaches compared to my last one. It wasn't obviously loose, but hard to say. I took it off and reattached it, but haven't had a chance to run it since and see if the noise is gone. Does seem like the likely problem though. I hope so, sure makes for an easy fix if so.

Nope, she's still a clunker ;-)

Under warranty, so we'll see what the guy says on Thursday when he comes out.

So...he doesn't know. But it was also obvious with his clear door that the water supply for the silverware jets doesn't line up with the rack and just shoots water at the door. He couldn't get it to line up. So he ordered several parts to replace that and the spray bar and maybe the assembly the spray bar attaches to. Throw parts at it to make the clunk go away.

Will do. He can't come back for three weeks, but the parts are shipping here so if they get here first I probably won't wait for him to show up. Whatever the case, I'll let you know what I find out.

Gotta get me one of those clear plastic false doors...

It was the lower spray arm. Still not clear why it was making the noise, but replacing it made it go away.
