Hi, my GE Profile dishwasher, Model PDT750SSF0SS, will not start. All of the buttons work to set the cycle and it displays the selected cycle but when I press Start, it does not count down the 10 seconds like it normally does.

It normally says close the door within 10 seconds to start and it counts down from 10. Then you close the door and it starts. Now it just says close the door within 10 seconds but it does not count down and it does not start when I close the door.

I have tried all the troubleshooting and nothing works. Have turned off the power and back on too.

Anyone know what is wrong? Thanks!

Hi, Check the machine control board STATUS LED first(its located underneath the front on the dishwasher). Tell us how many times its flashing in a row, or if its STEADY ON or STEADY OFF.

To view the STATUS LED, remove the lower access panel of your dishwasher. You DO NOT have remove the control board from its metal casing when you view the STATUS LED.

When you have that panel lowered down turn the breaker back ON to your dishwasher. When viewing it leave all the electrical connectors to it plugged in.

Here's the photo of the machine control board, if you do not see the STATUS LED blinking or STEADY ON, then its STEADY OFF, so that means first confirm you are getting 120 volts to where it says 120 VAC SUPPLY on the machine control board, if you are getting 120 volts there, then its STEADY OFF. Since your lights on the UI Board at the top of your dishwasher door is working, then we know you have 120 volts to the machine control board.

STEADY OFF means the machine control board has failed.

Here's the machine control board for your model you can order, if the STATUS LED is STEADY OFF: WD21X24903 Machine Control

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your reply!

I decided to try turning it on again before we did your check of the board and surprisingly it counted down the start and then I closed the door and it started. It did cut off a few times during the wash and I had to open the door and then push start again to make it resume. We will do the check you suggested and let you know the results.

Thanks!

Ok, yes let us know how it goes when you check the STATUS LED on the machine control board, make sure you check that STATUS LED when this problem occurs.:)

We replaced the control board and it is working now.

The only thing that is strange is that when I run the sanitize cycle it does not say sanitized like it is supposed to when it ends. It just says cycle complete. It is not due to the water temp as it is well above 120.

The other thing it does is drain differently. It used to drain 4 short times and then drain four times again with the last one being the longest and I would hear water draining each time. Now it drains 4 times with a longer drain at the end of that cycle and then 4 times again with a really long drain at the end of that cycle. In the second round of drains I don't hear any water draining.

Would this new board cause any of this to happen? Other that those things it is working just like it used to.

Yes, they may have updated the software on the new control board.

Thanks, one last question. Do you think it is still sanitizing the dishes even if it does not say "sanitized" at the end.

That's a good question, I really don't know, and I hate to assume. Just as long as lots of steam comes out the door when you open it, it should be fine. Just make sure your head/face is NOT in the way when you open the door.:)
