Installing a new LCD UI (User Interface) Board on our GE Dishwasher (PDT855SSJ0SS) after finding condensation in panel about 2 weeks ago, then panel turned two different "tones" with one side being a darker shade than then the other (split 50/50), then the next day it was completely dead. I have purchased multiple OEM parts, such as the inner door "skin", a new vent seal gasket, a new tub gasket, along with the new UI LCD board (WD21X23556), which replaced the original LCD board part FGKIT SERVICE UI LCD FFSTN (WD21X22954).

As many of mentioned on this blog, I am having a tough time understanding the jumper settings required to give my model the correct personality. When I opened up the new part and read the very simple and straight forward instructions provided, I felt I was on fast path to getting this completed and re-installed the same day, but when I actually looked at the new part jumper configuration it confuses me due to my model PDT855 falls into "personality" #12 with two other models (GDT720 and PDT720).

Here is the confusion...please see attached pictures as well.

The UI LCD board for this model has the Jumper Setting Diagram (8421) with #2 and #1 moving the the jumper "down" exposing the last two circles. If I follow this diagram, then my jumper "boxes" are slightly off the UI board, so it no longer will fit easily into the "cradle"/dishwasher housing bottom part.

When I look at the actual personality settings on the board, the numbers 8421 are ABOVE the jumper settings, which makes me think I should move the "jumpers" UP for #2 and #1 towards the printed numbers, but that seems crazy, and would think this would be documented on the instructions?

Lastly, what is the best glue or way to re-secure the foam block that covers the detergent tray on the new inner door? I had an incredibly sticky tar when removing and see a video using only double sided tape to re-fasten.

Thanks everyone and any help and/or insight is greatly appreciated!

Here's the UI Board for your model:

The UI LCD board for this model has the Jumper Setting Diagram (8421) with #2 and #1 moving the the jumper "down" exposing the last two circles. If I follow this diagram, then my jumper "boxes" are slightly off the UI board, so it no longer will fit easily into the "cradle"/dishwasher housing bottom part.
I see your point there, and I don't know the answer to that because I've not had to install a new UI Board on this model as of yet.

When I look at the actual personality settings on the board, the numbers 8421 are ABOVE the jumper settings, which makes me think I should move the "jumpers" UP for #2 and #1 towards the printed numbers, but that seems crazy, and would think this would be documented on the instructions?
I was thinking the same thing, why don't you go ahead and try that, moving the jumper UP for #2 and #1 and see if it will work.

Thanks Jake,
I appreciate your honesty and quick response! Do you know if you install this GE replacement UI board with the incorrect jumper settings can it damage the dishwasher control board or anything else on the dishwasher?

Secondly, is there a way to test the new UI LCD board without completely reinstalling the inner door, its components, and closing up the dishwasher to try and run a wash cycle or two. Am I able to plug in the wire harness underneath to the control board, but not reconnect the two halves of the door and lay the the door on the floor? I am guessing that this may work since I would not want the door latch closed and water start filling the tub?

Again, appreciate your tthoughts! I also am attaching a pic of the jumper pins "sticking out" when in the original configuration.

No, it will NOT damage it.

No, not that I'm aware of.

Thank you both BigBuck and Jake! Everything on here has been very helpful. Now I need to figure out what to do since the Service Bulletin definitely applies to us. When I opened up the toe kick I noticed that the insulation was just shoved under and was not properly installed.

Thanks again for your help!

Ok Mica, let us know how it goes.

Hey Jake,
Thought I was done asking questions, but still have a couple more. Is there a preferred method to re-attaching both the foam block and the vent conduit onto the new inner door "skin"? I removed the foam not realizing it was attached with an industrial glue of some sort and the vent conduit was already loose since it only had a single dab of glue on the backside. Saw online that someone used double sided tape, but wanted to ask if that was fine to use due to the heat from the dishwasher.

Thanks again for all the help!

Did you get the new UI Board working?

I don't know the answer to that, as I've not had to replace those 2 parts before. But double sided tape should work fine.

So here we are.... after spending about $280 in New GE parts and an unexplainable amount of time researching my possible issues I set the "jumpers" to the configuration I explained previously and moved them "up", so the UI board can properly fit into the housing in the dishwasher door. I replaced the inner door, new UI, and also replaced the tub gasket(even though old one was not in terrible shape). Lastly, I took BigBuck's help and updated/fixed the insulation underneath/behind the kickplate by cutting out addtional area to allow the dryer vent to "breathe" better.

When I re-installed the door, plugged everything into the Control Board we were delighted to see that we had all the correct wash settings (same as previous), but several settings had longer cycle times (ie. HEAVY setting with sanitize wash temp, power dry boost, and bottle washing) used to take unbelievably long time at 4 hours and 38 minutes. Now it takes 5 hours and 2 minutes.

This extra time was not a worry for us since we wash overnight and in the mornings we had clean dry dishes(minus some of the plastic cups still being damp, as always). We were all super excited for about a 7-10 days.

Fast Forward to this past weekend and my wife called me over to show me that we again are getting condensation in the LCD portion of the UI. UI still is working, but unplugged dishwasher for 2 days and used a towel to make sure tub was open to allow time to dry. Re-ran the dishwasher on a normal setting last night and woke again to water in the LCD panel. Zero water underneath or dripping around door or on floor in front.

Looking for any suggestions to help trouble shoot this problem. Appreciate everyone's help!

This is a very uncommon problem that I've not seen before, so its best to contact GE to come out at 1-800-432-2737 to see why this is happening, and if the GE tech does not know, they have a special factory hotline phone number to get the GE factory involved to find a solution to this problem.

Thanks Jake,
Do you know if they (GE or the GE Service Repair Person) will even entertain working on my dishwasher since I have personally opened it up and worked on it?

That I don't know, sorry.
