Oven does not heat at all, broiler and stovetop work fine. Removed the oven door and heat shield over the igniter. Turned on the oven, igniter does not glow at all - literally nothing happens in the oven, even though the control panel shows it is on.

I expected a bad igniter, which I expected to at least glow a little. Should I order a new igniter anyway? Or is an electrical problem? Is there any way to get more information without cutting wires - this is the original igniter, so no splicing has been done.

If I am going to pay for and wait for ceramic wire nuts, I may as well order a new igniter anyway.

Check the igniter for continuity. If it shows open, replace it:

oven igniters should have between 3.2 and 3.6 ohms .. they usually fall apart to when touched if they are bad

Hi Jay, that information is incorrect. The oven igniter should draw 3.2 to 3.6 amps depending on the model range.
