Our Kenmore Elite fridge's (model 795.73157.610 purchased January 2017) compressor just died. We've seen the class action lawsuits are are not going to attempt repair.
My question is, what's the most reliable large (~28 cu ft) capacity free-standing refrigerator out there?
Several different service contractors recommended Frigidaire (backordered for several months), or the Whirlpool/Maytag/Jenn-Air/KitchenAid/Amana brands. I found the Whirlpool WRS588FIHZ for sale, but it's a side-by-side and I'm not sure we want to deal with the hassle of shuffling food around. Also, there seem to be complaints about noise.
We were also told to avoid water/ice dispensing on the door, unless it was a side by side with the dispenser on the freezer door side. We would like to keep the ice maker in freezer/water inside fridge if possible, if we end up with one of the bottom freezer types.
