Hello- this is my very first post here and I might as well get off and running, lol.

My Roper washer worked fine until it started to not spin out on the final cycle. It agitates during wash fine. I removed the motor and transmission and kept it connected to the harness to simulate a rinse the center long shaft that turns the agitator doesn't turn but the small drum with the clutch does. The long shaft has a bit of a wobble also. Any ideas?

When your washer is all put back together, does it make noise like it's spinning? Is so then your clutch may be worn out or there may be a sock stuck between the wash basket and outer tub. If your motor doesn't run in the spin cycle, then suspect the lid switch.

Yes - Before I noticed it wasnt actually spinning i kept re-spinning because they were just soaked. Then I began to notice even though it made the sound of spinning out it wasn't turning when i opened the lid. I pushed the lid switch and tried it. nothing

Do you see the silver clutch turning when it should be spinning in the spin cycle?

You'd have to jump the lid switch so the washer will spin in the spin cycle, this link shows you how to do that: Bypass Direct drive washer lid switch from consol plug

The silver clutch is just above the gearcase.

If its not turning, your gearcase is shot.

It is turning- But the long shaft that drives the agitator isnt turning on spin cycle. I tipped the washer over and ran it thru the cycles with the lid closed.

ALso best i can tell the long shaft doesnt turn on the rinse cycle either. I don't know very much about direct drive washers.

That should not turn when in spin, just the clutch will.

Yes, the clutch is likely the culprit.
