Hello, we bought a home out of foreclosure, and are fighting through issues related to the home being on well water, but with the water softener being non functional for many years. Thus, we have replaced or repaired all of the water intensive appliances like the dishwashers, hot water heaters, ice makers in fridges, etc...

After a lot of effort, I was able to get a KitchenAid ice maker to produce ice, but I don't have any confidence it is doing so very efficiently, the ice is very soft, and it seems to run a lot and get very warm.

At this point, my gut instinct is to buy a new ice maker. I know this a repair advice forum, but does anyone have any advice or recommendations on brands/models to consider?

My ideal criteria are:

Reliability
Quality of the Ice
Low maintenance
Efficiency
25 pounds of ice storage (give or take)

The above are must haves. The nice to have are:

If it make that cool small ice like is popular in the south, that would be awesome.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

I recommend Jenn-Air, they are very good reliable ice makers.

This is a very good model: Jenn-Air JIM158XYCX

This one has more features, like self-clean mode: Jenn-Air JIM159XYCX
