So I went to change my water filter today and as it has been doing for several years now, when I remove the filter, water constantly runs out of it. I don't have a shutoff valve on the fridge and would have to fish around my basement to find where the fitting goes which I can do but won't be fun because of the drop ceiling in the basement and insulation between floors. This usually isn't a huge problem but the filters I bought to replace them (I went with ICEPURE 4396508 Replacement for Whirlpool 4396510, EDR5RXD1, PNL240V, 4396508p, 4396547, 4392857,LC400V, WF-NLC240V,46-9010 which are supposed to be compatible) did not want to seat in there properly. The end result was an excessive amount of water on my floor and a big mess. I am just curious if I should just replace the filter housing and if I am going to do that, I'd prefer to upgrade to the filter with the push button instead of the quarter turn one which I'm not a big fan of and was looking for ideas. I'm not opposed to adding an inline shutoff valve for the water either but thinking since the housing is having issues anyway, I should probably replace it. Thanks in advance.
