Hi all-

I have a question about a possible purchase or repair, and I need you help deciding if this is a wise decision.

We have a Sears Kenmore Elite mod: 665.12769K3 (purchased 2015) that is making a clicking noise from underneath the left side of the unit when it is running. From what I've read, it's most likely the water pump that making the noise and will need replacing. It hasn't failed yet, but I guess it's a sign of a future issue. We run the dishwasher on average 5 days a week.

Here's my question: Through Costco, I purchased (but can still cancel) a Maytag dishwasher mod: MDB4949SKZ for $499 which includes the removing and hauling away the Kenmore and installing the new Maytag. This model seem to get good reviews. Should I keep the current Kenmore dishwasher and replace the failing part or opt for the new Maytag?

I'm wondering the life expectancy of the Kenmore and the price of future parts. If it's quality dishwasher, I'll stick with the Kenmore. If it's at an age where parts are beginning to fail, it would not take too many repair parts to add up to the price of the new dishwasher.

I'd appreciate people's thoughts on the quality of the new Maytag dishwasher and the life expectancy of the old Kenmore Elite dishwasher.

Thanks for your time!

Adding a link to a video of the clicking noise that the Sears Kenmore Elite mod: 665.12769K313 is making.

Again, the noise is coming from the bottom left side of the dishwasher.

Thank you!

You should be hearing the wash(circulation) motor running and the sound of water splashing in the tub right after it fills with water.

If its just clicking and not running, then yes, its starting to fail.

Here's the CIRCULATION PUMP(aka WASH MOTOR) for your model: W10894668

This video gives you the general idea of how to remove and replace it:

The average life of dishwashers nowadays is 8-12 years, so its your choice if you want to get the new Maytag or repair the Kenmore. Yes, after 8 years parts can start normally wearing out due to use. So you may want to consider getting the new Maytag.
