Hello all,

I have had a Kitchenaid KUDS50FVSS3 dishwasher for about 5 years and it has been a workhorse. Up until about a year ago when small things started to go wrong; plastic split and metal underneath began to rust on racks, small plastic pieces holding the racks have begun to melt but most importantly it stopped cleaning dishes. I ran the washer empty, with vinegar and with dish washer hard water remover, all to no avail(but i did have a very clean washer).

I noticed the detergent dispenser door was not opening during wash cycles. While replacing the entire detergent dispenser mechanism i noticed the motor was completely burned out. It had heated so much that it it was black in parts, melted the plastic sheet that hung over the mechanism and made a small brown burn mark on the inside of the front panel. I replaced the mechanism with one hiccup, the main button panel slid and tugged on the two thin purple wires connecting it to the handle mechanism. I checked the connections and everything seemed fine so i closed up the front panel and ran the dishwasher. Ran great, detergent door still didn't open.

What's next?

replace wiring harness($82)? replace electronic control board($200)? replace dishwasher ($1000)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
