Hi
I have a Samsung RF265ABPN refrigerator. The back wall is iced up and the refrigerator is not cooling to temp. Many years ago I had a similar problem where the lower drawer would get frozen in place from ice. I installed a wire extension from the heater down the drain tube to prevent the drain tube from freezing and that resolved the ice problem until now. Today I've found the entire back wall frozen up, including the drain tube. I've attached photos. Does the ice pattern help indicate where the issue may be? The entire foam insulator is filled with ice up to the fan. Any tips on where to begin troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance,
Wendy

Its either the defrost sensor, or defrost heater, or control board is bad. You would ohm test the defrost sensor for continuity, which should be about 0 to 1 ohm. Then ohm test the defrost heater, that should be about 100 ohms. If both ohm test good the only part left would be the main control board.

Make sure the refrigerator is unplugged when ohm testing.

Here's the defrost sensor for your model: Thermo Bimetal-Protec DA47-00243S

Here's the defrost heater for your model: Heater-Metal Sheath DA47-00244D

Here's the main control board for your model:
DA41-00413H Pba Main

Thank you so much for the input, I will test those tomorrow. I looked up part numbers earlier today and they are different than what you listed. My refrigerator tag has a model number and a BOM name that are different, does this make a difference in part numbers?

Thanks again
Wendy

So the defrost heater did test at 100 ohms. I wasn't able to get a reading on the sensor. I put the refrigerator in forced defrost mode, and it did heat up and melt the ice, so I know the heater works.

Unfortunately, from what I can tell the defrost sensor doesn't seem to be available anymore.

There are many sensors that look the same with a similar part number, just the last letter is different. Are you aware of any resource that would give specs on these sensors to see if any might be compatible?

Unfortunately, not that I'm aware of. You can take that defrost sensor to your local appliance parts store in your area and see if they can match it up with a universal one.

Hi Jake
I'm sorry to bother you with another question. I'm not able to find the bimetal protect sensor that you listed. Can you confirm I'm looking for the correct item?. You called it a defrost sensor,. The part stores are telling me this number is the defrost sensor. DA32-00027B
From what I understand, The bimetal sensor is a high limit that protects from overheating.
thanks
Wendy
