So I have an ice maker that is freezing up. A thick layer of frost forms on the underside. The ice maker is in the box on the left of the fridge. Have looked this up a bit and found that this is a common issue but can not find a resolution.
This picture isn't that great but way in the back is a black spot where something has burnt out...
Another issue, the door flap between the French doors is broken. One gentleman thought that would be the issue because of it not sealing and sucking air into the ice maker housing. I kind of agree but I have seen so many complaints about this issue I have doubts. Especially so, since there is a lawsuit about these ice makers.
Thoughts?

A thick layer of frost forms on the underside.

Frost forms from warm, humid air condensing on cold surfaces and freezing. Look for air leaks into the cabinet either through doors not sealing or an ice dispenser flapper not closing tightly.

An actual water leak would cause ice to form not frost.
