My Samsung RFG297AARS/XAA will not keep cool and compressor turns off.

When I plug it in everything powers up, compressor kicks on and gets warm, light on inverter board is solid red, and the fridge and freezer start to cool BUT only for about an hour.

After that the compressor turns off and is hot to the touch, light on the inverter board turns off, and fridge goes back to room temp.

Is the compressor shot or would it be worth it to hunt down a replacement inverter board and/or main control board?
Any help with diagnosis would greatly be appreciated! Thank you!

Usually when the compressor is extremely hot to the touch, its drawing too many amps, thus the compressor is the culprit.

You can take a amp draw reading when the compressor is running to confirm that.

I explain it more here:

Thanks Jake ! The fan in between the compressor and coils also never turns on in that hour if that’s a clue for anything else.

Hey Jake,

So new fan came in and installed, the 88/89 88 code did not show at initial plug-in. Was waiting for fan to turn on but it did not do so. Checked voltage for all fans. F-Fan = 9.95 , R-Fan = 8.19 , C- Fan 0.05 . Would the next step be to replace the board?

Yes, the main board is the problem.

Here's the main control board for your model:
