I would like to replace the anode on my Rheemglas Fury Model 82V40-1. I contacted Lowes but the person who helped me wasn't sure what if the anodes they sell were compatible with my WH. Can someone please direct me to what part I need. Thanks

Thanks Jake. Looks like I will have to go with a flexible replacement rod. I don't have enough head space to remove the old anode rod. What is the best way to remove the old rod?

No enough head room to pull the old one out?

Why are you replacing it anyways? The only reason to replace it is if the hot water is starting to smell like rotten eggs.:)

Water doesn't smell, but I read that it should be changed every 5 years. It's been 11 years since I bought the WH. Never changed the anode. My sense of smell is bad so I may not notice it if it does smell. Thanks

Nope, I have never heard that before.

My water heater is 15 years old and I've never replaced mine and I'm on well water.:)

What about having your friends or family see if they smell rotten eggs from the hot water?
