Hey all! So I'll try to make this as short as possible. Having issues with the coils freezing over, the ice creeps into the fan stopping it and obv fridge stops cooling properly. Removed the interior back panel (multiple times), thawed out coils, tested heating element (good), and occasionally run the force defrost (FD) to help it out...a couple days still freezing over. Took everything apart again to test the Thermistor and here's where I'm lost. Based on the resistance charts, at room temp resistance should be somewhere around 5k if I remember correctly. My thermistor reads over 1 mega-ohm which is way off the charts. Thermistor is bad right?? I already have one on order just in case but to complicate things even more...I currently have the back panel off right now so I don't have to take everything apart when new thermistor comes in, but even with the thermistor unplugged the fridge occasionally kicks into defrost mode and melts the coil ice like it normally would try to. How is it doing this without a thermistor? I know older fridges used to have a defrost timer but for the life of me I can't find/get conformation if mine has one (assuming it might be on the control board).
So just lost as to why everything keeps freezing over...tired of going thru this every 3-4 weeks. HELP! lol
